who we are

About SEaP

The Social Entrepreneurship & Philanthropy (SEaP) programme, under the IDL MSc Development Management, empowers students to give back to society. Participants are organised into groups of three or more and tasked with identifying a community and addressing a specific issue within it. Using their own resources, students have successfully implemented impactful projects, creating meaningful social change in underserved communities across Ghana.

Empowering Social Impact

Our mission

To foster innovative and collaborative solutions to community challenges by equipping students with practical skills, resources, and opportunities to design and implement impactful social and entrepreneurial interventions. Through education, mentorship, and hands-on projects, SEaP aims to create a generation of change-makers dedicated to improving lives and fostering sustainable growth.

Our vision

To inspire and empower students to become transformative leaders, driving sustainable development and creating lasting social impact in communities across Ghana and beyond.

Our story

The Social Entrepreneurship & Philanthropy (SEaP) programme was born from a simple yet profound idea: to empower students to give back to society while addressing pressing community challenges. Established under the MSc Development Management programme at KNUST, SEaP inspires students to step beyond the classroom and make a tangible impact in underserved communities across Ghana.

Student's Projects

Through SEaP, students are grouped into teams to identify critical issues in local communities and develop innovative solutions to address them. With limited resources but boundless passion, these students have delivered remarkable projects that have improved lives and fostered sustainable growth. From education to healthcare, their interventions have created ripples of change that continue to resonate.

Nurturing the Future

At the heart of SEaP is the belief that every student holds the power to drive transformation. By combining academic knowledge with real-world action, SEaP nurtures a generation of leaders committed to creating a better, more equitable future. Our journey is one of resilience, innovation, and unwavering commitment to social good.

Fostering Collaboration

SEaP fosters collaboration by uniting students, experts, and communities to develop innovative, sustainable solutions to challenges. Together, they create meaningful social impact through shared learning and teamwork. This synergy ensures diverse perspectives drive creative solutions, empowering all involved to contribute to lasting change. Collaboration is at the heart of SEaP’s mission to inspire collective action for development.

Main Event

The SEaP Conference

The SEaP Conference is a flagship event of the MSc Development Management programme, held annually as part of the Development Practicum course. Since its inception in 2017, the conference has become a cornerstone of the programme, offering a platform for students to share their transformative community development projects with the world.

Over the years, the SEaP Conference has showcased the innovation, passion, and dedication of students striving to make a difference in underserved communities. However, the global COVID-19 pandemic brought unexpected challenges, pausing physical gatherings for several years. Now, with renewed vigour, the conference returns to its roots, welcoming students, experts, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue once more.

This event is more than just a showcase; it is a crucible of ideas. Students present their developmental intervention projects, receiving invaluable feedback from peers and experts to refine their initiatives. The SEaP Conference celebrates collaboration, learning, and the unwavering spirit of creating lasting change.
